Our Design innovations help businesses increase profitability, customer loyalty, and brand recognition. For a router connected to large network segments, this would result in a rather large ARP listing or ARP table. A large ARP table consumes more of the router’s memory, so the caching time (or age) that Cisco has chosen was the result of a tradeoff of memory consumed by the ARP cache versus ARP’s need for fresh MAC information.
The ARP tab of the Routes window allows you to view and modify this table. You can add permanent entries and designate entries to be "Published" or used for "Proxy" ARP which means IP addresses that this machine should recognize as one of its own and respond to with a corresponding hardware address. To create permanent static ARP cache entries, place the appropriate arp commands in a batch file and use Scheduled Tasks to run the batch file at startup. Examples. To display the ARP cache tables for all interfaces, type: arp /a To display the ARP cache table for the interface that is assigned the IP address 10.0.0.99, type: arp /a /n 10.0.0.99
